Selling High Karat Gold Jewellery at Canada Gold - Toronto
Here at Canada Gold – Toronto, customers visit us to sell all kinds of things, including jewellery. We often see gold jewellery that is stamped “22K” but tests at a different purity. When we test it, it is commonly actually 19.5 karat, with a gold content of 81.25%. The pieces we see are often from countries in South Asia, including India and Pakistan. Hallmarks and stamps are useful, but they are not always exact. To give every customer a fair, accurate offer, our in-store testing takes priority over any stamp on the item. We assess each piece on its own merits and explain our findings in clear language so you understand how we reached the offer.
What this means for you is simple. If your item is stamped 22K, we will still test it. If it confirms as 22K, you will see that reflected in the price. If it tests as 19.5K, we will show you the result and price it at that purity. This approach protects you from over or under valuation and helps our team keep pricing consistent across the Greater Toronto Area.
We also buy diamonds and jewellery with diamonds. To qualify for individual diamond value, a single stone must be natural, not lab grown, and not colour treated. Diamonds that are 0.40 carat and larger are individually appraised. Smaller stones are usually grouped and priced as melee, or the piece is valued primarily for its precious metal. During an appraisal, we confirm the diamond’s characteristics and explain how size, cut quality, colour, and clarity affect value. If a stone does not meet the criteria for individual diamond pricing, we will still provide a clear explanation of how we valued the piece.
Our goal is to make every visit informative and transparent. If you have jewellery, stamped or unstamped, bring them in and we will test them in front of you. If you have diamonds, we will confirm whether they meet the criteria for an individual appraisal and talk you through the options. You leave with a clear understanding of your items and a fair, competitive offer.
